Alien Conspiracies: Are We Alone?

I am sure that many of you have at least heard the claims that we are not alone in this universe. Whether you are a believer or a skeptic, here are 3 of the most popular extraterrestrial conspiracy theories:

In the summer of 1947, a rancher discovered unidentifiable debris in his sheep pasture outside Roswell, New Mexico. Although officials from the local Air Force base claimed that it was only a crashed weather balloon, many people believed it was the remains of an extraterrestrial flying saucer; a series of secret “dummy drops” in New Mexico during the 1950s heightened their suspicions. Nearly 50 years after the story of the mysterious debris broke, the U.S. military issued a report linking the incident to a top-secret atomic espionage project called Project Mogul. Still, many people continue to embrace the UFO theory, and hundreds of curiosity seekers visit Roswell and the crash site every year.

It is believed that the remains of crashed UFO spacecrafts are stored at Area 51, an Air Force base about 150 miles from Las Vegas, where government scientists reverse-engineer the aliens’ highly advanced technology including stealth bombers and reconnaissance planes. Fuel for this theory has come from a variety of supposed UFO sightings in the area and testimony from a retired Army colonel who says he was given access to extraterrestrial materials gathered from an alien spacecraft that crashed in Roswell, N.M. The government’s official line — that the details of Area 51 are classified for purposes of national security — is only seen as further proof that the military is hiding aliens or alien spacecraft.

While there is no physical proof that extraterrestrial studies and experimentation have been taking place in the Area 51 facilities, there are a number of conspiracy theories concerning the use of the base as a research facility on extraterrestrial life forms. Aliens are not the only subject of the many conspiracy theories focused on Area 51 though, some of the many theories include the use and implementation of weather control, time travel technology, teleportation technology and the genetic engineering of human – extra-terrestrial hybrids.

Ancient Astronauts

According to ancient alien theorists, extraterrestrials with superior knowledge of science and engineering landed on Earth thousands of years ago, sharing their expertise with early civilizations and forever changing the course of human history.

Most ancient alien theorists point to two types of evidence to support their ideas. The first is ancient religious texts in which humans witness and interact with gods or other heavenly beings who descend from the sky—sometimes in vehicles resembling spaceships—and possess spectacular powers. The second is physical specimens such as artwork depicting alien-like figures and ancient architectural marvels like Stonehenge and the pyramids of Egypt.

What do you think? Are we alone in the universe, or are extraterrestrials real?
